A brilliant academic who's quality of magic is noted as being by-the-book levels of perfection, Marcille is not only a quick study of multiple disciplines but a magic user that specializes in fire-based and explosive offensive magic as well as flash/stunning and protection magic. She additionally has a spell that enables those under it's influence to walk on water. Additionally, she can create familiars if there is ample enough raw materials around, an she is capable of preventing possession with wards as well as some skill in dispelling curses.
She has a special interest in arcane magics that allow for quick and effective but painful healing. This arcane 'black' magic was also used to revive a close classmate who was lost to the Dungeon, Falin, although the revival was not as clean as anyone would have hoped.
Marcille is considered a hybrid sort of magician, with skills in both gnomish and elven styles. She also can utilize and create magic circles, and is knowledgable enough to know when she encounters magic craft that is beyond her skill level.
Beside this, Marcille has the basic skill of being able to follow detailed directions, particularly as they involve mundane but difficult processes-- like soap making.
She is very creative, capable of out-of-the-box thinking, and can be quite imaginative.

These words were used to describe Marcille's magic by a stranger-- a graduate from the same school-- but it nonetheless fits everything about the Elven mage. Marcille Donato is an academic deep in her heart, with a keen ability to analyze and make use of her texts while maintaining her strong principles and sense of loyalty to both her people and her own ideals. While she is flexible in her sense of morality in terms of magic-- seeing it as strictly a tool, and pointing out that healing magic can be used for torture while she was using forbidden black magic to revive her best friend, Falin Touden-- she can be just as rigid in terms of her beliefs in how certain aspects of the world should function. She balked at the notion of eating monsters at first, even though she was extolling her love of seafood at the same time, and the unknowns of the world lead to her putting pressure on herself to be able to act beyond her means when faced with a crisis.
Although she's very confident in her skills in magic, she is insecure about her abilities outside of her role as a magic caster. This insecurity ends up compounding her internal sense of guilt at not being able to do better for her teammates and her friends, as was made clear when Shuro raged at her about the ultimate cost of her use of magic in regards to Falin. At the same time, she firmly believed that dark magic could be used to help people in the future. The closest real-world comparison to this mentality would be the mentality behind the first people who thought that nuclear energy, which was considered at huge threat of actual destruction at the time, could be used in applications to help the people who otherwise had no chance of survival.
The price of using such methods, though extreme by every measure, was worth the chance of someone else living another day with their family.
"Magic has no morality," she said. This mentality may only truly be understood by the long-lived Elves of this world, for they have the gift of Time beyond that of any other people in this setting. However, this gift of time means that Elves grow at a different rate-- and Marcille, as a half-elf, experienced more irregularity than her peers in this matter. She is chronologically 50 years old, but mentally and emotionally she is about as experienced as a young person in their late teens or early 20s. She is naive in many ways, and often times leads with her heart instead of her rational head. She wants to believe that friendship is enough to hold parties together, and that her actions with her use of dark magic and Falin could be forgiven because of the positive outcome that resulted from it. She is deeply attached to her people, and gets pushy about learning more about them and will quite loudly be pushy her own opinions on the matter. She wants to believe the best in people...however, she also deeply fears the fate that is likely inevitable for her: outliving all of her friends and dying alone.
Marcille is a young woman of great potential who can achieve a lot in the world, if she can step beyond her guilt and insecurities and allow herself to be supported by her friends. She has more than she believes... she just doesn't always see it because she doesn't know what to look for.
